Fake tusks fitted with GPS to track ivory poachers’ routes

NPR’s Terry Gross interviews journalist¬†Bryan Christy.

Christy wanted to find the ivory poacher’s routes, so he had convincing¬†fake tusks made and fitted them with GPS trackers.

Christy says that the ivory trade is not just genocide in terms of elephants but it is also crimes against humanity. The entire interview helps clarify the bigger picture¬†– it’s not a simple equation (the Chinese have an insatiable need for ivory). This journalist’s story is worth a listen!
